Integrating Indigenous Planning

Integrating Indigenous Planning

Rangelands NRM highly values indigenous land management planning and on-ground action. We acknowledge that much planning has been and is being done in the rangelands of W, and that there are a variety of Healthy Country Plans and other plans, either private or publicly available, to help prioritise and guide the management of our natural resources. We are committed to working with indigenous groups and organisations to achieve our common goal of supporting and encouraging the sustainable use of our natural resources and it is our intention, when developing projects or assisting others to develop projects, that indigeous planning is integrated into the project development process so that we can collaborate on areas of common ground.

View Tindale’s tribal boundaries map to see the many language groups that make up the rangelands indigenous community.

Kimberley

Some ranger groups are coordinated by the Kimberley Land Council (KLC) but there are also other groups in the Kimberley that are not. Options for accessing more information on indigenous planning in the Kimberley subregion are:

Option 1: Contact Rangelands NRM Northern Program Manager on 08 9192 5212, who can guide you to the appropriate contact person for the group or organisation most relevant to your project.

Option 2: Visit the  Kimberley Land Council Ranger and Indigenous Protected Area map. Click on your area of interest on the map or navigate to it using the lefthand menu. If a Healthy Country Plan exists for that Ranger group or area, it will be listed and linked in the information page.

Option 3: Contact the Kimberley Land Council directly on 08 9194 0100.
